One of the first jurisdictions to offer licenses for online casinos – the Kahnawake Gaming Commission Online Gambling License – was founded in 1996 and began operating in 1999. Kahnawake is a small community of 8,000 Native Americans who occupy an independent territory on the south bank of the St. Lawrence River in Canada.
Originally, the Kahnawake Gaming Commission was known as a weak regulator, however, over the past 5 years, it has been implementing several restrictive policies. In addition, the company has changed its approach to resolving player problems. These measures seem to have been a wise choice and now this commission is known as one of the best for obtaining a license for an online casino.
The commission cannot boast of having a large Online Casino among its clients, but the situation is changing rapidly. The company’s reputation is still a little worse than that of Gibraltar Regulatory Authority, Alderney Gambling Control Commission and Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission but much better than that of Costa Rica.
